In pandemic times, like the one we are witnessing for COVID-19, discussion about new efficient and rapid techniques diagnosis of diseases is more evident. this mini-review, present to virological scientific community potential attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy as a technique. Herein, explain operation technique, well its advantages over standard methods. addition, also multivariate analysis tools that can be used extract useful information from data towards classification purposes. Tools such Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Successive Projections Algorithm (SPA), Genetic (GA) Linear Quadratic Discriminant (LDA QDA) covered, including examples published studies. Finally, disadvantages ATR-FTIR emphasized, future prospects in field study only growing. One main aims paper encourage explore spectroscopic tool detect changes biological samples those caused by presence viruses.
